Freedom isn't free
Birthdays don’t just count years. They count comebacks.
Welcome back to YKC. Thank you all for the birthday wishes, I truly felt the love and appreciate every message. Happy 4th of July to all those celebrating.
Over the past few weeks, even when the country was at war with Iran and enduring daily missile barrages, Israelis refused to flinch. In the face of devastation, Israelis continued to show the world what true resilience looks like. The lion was attacked, but it did not back down, it pounced harder. Planning to be back in the country in mid-July, so if you want to get coffee respond to this email directly.

The Art of Focus: Find Meaning, Reinvent Yourself and Create Your Ideal Future by Dan Koe: I found out about Dan Koe from ChatGPT (of course), and while there is an overemphasis (and obsession) with solo creators like him and Justin Welsh, overall, they offer solid advice for solopreneurs and creators. I prefer his podcast and YouTube over this book, but it’s a solid start to understand what I believe the future of making money online could look like.
One thing I need to check myself on, as I get older, and (hopefully) I gain more wisdom, is where there are gaps in my knowledge. Young people, especially in their native use of AI can offer perspectives and insights as well. I suppose being more of a curmudgeon is a function of age, but no one has the ultimate authority on all knowledge. With that, what I do like about this creator’s work is that he leans into being a solopreneur, integrating AI into our thinking process, and actually being intentional about what work should be. Maybe it’s so ingrained into our psyches, but just because one works hard and puts in long hours, it does not mean that’s the path to guaranteed success (whatever that means). And it’s not about looking for shortcuts, but actually being intentional about what will move the needle forward. It’s a crazy time, and we are truly bombarded non-stop with so many negative messages, that we really need to think about what we consume, and how we want to shape our view of the world. But on the other hand, what a time to be alive, and to be able to learn from so many intelligent people.
Koe emphasizes the power of intentional living, self-education, and leveraging the internet to create freedom, both financially and mentally, so if this resonates with you, I’d suggest checking his content out. Though he is a bit of a spiritual bro (I can empathize) the best advice he offers is the power of taking long walks, so with that I can agree… it’s life changing advice.
